Cyber security is becoming an increasingly important issue as Governments and companies evaluate the potential risks that cyber attacks could pose. United States President Barack Obama has warned that the cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges facing the United States.

In response to this challenge, additional Federal resources are being placed into this area and a National Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Centre has been set up in Northern Virginia.

Fairfax County Virginia is at the forefront of developments in US cyber security and is working with A|D|S to stage this one-day seminar that will look at what business opportunities could arise for UK companies in the USA Cyber sector, and how to address that market.

There are more than 6,000 technology firms operating in Fairfax County, including more than 70 already from the UK. Fairfax County-based companies landed $17 billion in Federal contracts in 2008, including almost $13 billion in defence related work. With a huge presence from the National Security Agency, the CIA, the Department of Homeland Security and other Federal agencies within Fairfax County the area can rightly claim to be at the centre of the industry.

UK companies already have a very successful track record of working in Virginia and this seminar will highlight the huge opportunities there for UK companies with cyber security, technologies or capabilities. Routes into the market, whether working with an existing Federal government contractor or directly with a US Federal agency itself, will be explored, and expert advice will be on hand to assist you tackle this challenging, but growing, market.
