The UK Space industry is a growing, high technology sector with revenues of £6 Billion in 2007. Institutional space spending by the European Space Agency will reach €3.4 Bn in 2010. The European Commission itself is also very active in funding space research through its FP7 programme.

The Sensors & Instrumentation KTN "Space Technology Needs: National & European Perspectives" event brings together European Union and European Space Agency (ESA) managers as well as prime space contractors, SME's and academics.
