MTL GROUP ANNOUNCED AS WINNER OF WORLD CLASS MANUFACTURING AWARD

MTL Group, a Sheffield contract manufacturer specialising in the metal sector has been awarded the Westfield Health Business Growth Award at the EEF ‘Future Manufacturing’ Awards for the North East & Yorkshire Region.

The awards launched by EEF, the Manufacturers’ Organisation, are designed to recognise excellence in four categories: innovation, enterprise, environmental responsibility and skills development. They are intended to reward world class performance and celebrate the excellence which exists across the region and throughout manufacturing.

MTL Group which operates from 129,000 sq ft of manufacturing space situated in the industrial heart of Sheffield were given the award after their export sales grew to £2.4m last year despite the economic climate. The sales growth of almost 700% in three years far exceeded the 20% per annum target and the company now employs over 200 skilled workers.

They will now represent the North East & Yorkshire regions in the national finals to be held in London in February next year.

Chair of the Judging Panel, Professor Steve Evans, Professor of Life Cycle Engineering at Cranfield University said MTL Group was selected as the winner in this category due to good evidence to support the company’s achievement and clear programme planning
