NDI OPPORTUNITIES CONFERENCE: BUILDING FOR GROWTH
The Annual NDI Conference is taking place for the first time in Tortworth Court Hotel, near Bristol. On Tuesday 13th and...
Wednesday 7 July 2010
The Head of the Transport and Advanced Engineering Team at the British Embassy in China will visit NDI member companies in the North East to talk about business opportunities for UK companies in China later this month.
First Secretary, Douglas Barnes, who is based at the British Embassy in Beijing, will meet companies with an interest in aerospace and advanced engineering and who see business opportunities in that country.
In addition to visits to local companies, NDI is also organising a round table discussion at its Newcastle upon Tyne offices where member companies will have the chance to question and find out more from Mr Barnes in person.
NDI Managing Director, Robin Fox, who recently returned from a fact finding mission to China led by A|D|S and attended by representatives from all the UK's regional aerospace companies, stated, ‘It is undeniable that the centre of gravity of the aerospace manufacturing industry is moving away from the US and Europe to Asia. There is enormous potential for a wide range of UK companies wishing to enter this market, especially those who do so with the right attitude, the necessary resources and the will to succeed. The pluses and minuses are clearer and as a result we at NDI are well placed to advise and support our members should China be a part of their manufacturing strategy.’
China has stated its long term intention to be the world's leading manufacturer in aerospace over the next twenty years or so and this presents huge opportunities for UK companies of all sizes - as well as some threats. So our advice to companies is ignore China at your peril!’
