Defence and Aerospace Organisations

NDI works closely with the following defence and aerospace organisations:

ADSA|D|S (Aerospace, Defence and Security) is a trade association created from the merger of the DMA, SBAC and APPSS organisations on 1st October 2009.

The Defence Manufacturers Association (DMA) was founded in 1976 by a small group of SMEs wishing to strengthen and formalise their links with the UK Ministry of Defence (UK MoD). It has since grown into the largest not-for-profit national defence Trade Association (TA) in the UK and is the only national TA dedicated solely to the service of companies within the UK Defence Industry.

The Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC) is the national trade association representing suppliers to the civil air transport, defence, space and security markets operating in the economy. It represents over 2,600 companies, assisting them to develop new business globally, facilitates innovation and competitiveness and provides regulatory services in technical standards and accreditation. The UK has the world's largest aerospace industry outside the USA . UK based aerospace activity had a turnover approaching £20bn in 2007, supporting a highly skilled workforce of over 164,000 people.  NDI is a regional partner of SBAC.

The Association of Police & Public Security Suppliers (APPSS) is the premier trade association for UK companies supplying products and/or services to the Police and Public Security agencies worldwide.

FAC LogoFarnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) is a not-for-profit trade association acting as a facilitator of business between large global primes and the supply chain and as an enabler of business support to its members and partners.

It is one of the largest and most established aerospace and defence associations in the UK, providing support to, and furthering the long-term strategic growth of, the sector in the South East.

NDI AND FAC MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

On the 25 August 2009, (FAC) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations to act jointly for the benefit of their member companies. The MoU recognises the natural synergies that exist between these two strong organisations and will allow for future activity to be conducted in partnership.

The MoU was a logical step for NDI, with its defence, security and military aerospace focus, and FAC with its prominent position in both civil and military aerospace. The agreement between the two organisations will ensure that the Government and the prime contractor community hear the voice of the small and medium sized companies in the UK.
